The “Great Award for Medium-Sized Companies” (Große Preis des Mittelstandes) Goes to ITK Engineering

ITK Engineering's successful growth convinces the judges

Last Saturday ITK Engineering was awarded the 2015 “Great Award for Medium-Sized Companies” by the Oskar Patzelt Foundation. Michael Englert, CEO and Founder of ITK Engineering, received the award for small and medium-sized enterprises at the ceremony at Maritim Hotel in Düsseldorf.

ITK Engineering has been nominated three times since 2012 for the prestigious business award, by the German Bundestag among others. This year the company convinced the jury as one of the three winners for the Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland region. There are five key criteria in which the companies must shine to rise to the top of the judges' roster:

  • The company's overall development
  • Creation and securing of jobs and apprenticeships
  • Modernization and innovation
  • Regional engagement
  • Service, customer focus, and marketing.

Presenter Dr. Helfried Schmidt, Chairman of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation, took particular note at the award ceremony of ITK’s successful growth, but also its many activities in the area of employee satisfaction, and its social engagement.

Across Germany, 5,009 small and medium-sized companies, as well as banks and municipalities, were nominated for the 21st annual “Great Award for Medium-Sized Companies” in 2015. No other business award in Germany has such a wide-reaching impact, now over more than two decades, as this honor from the Leipzig-based Oskar Patzelt Foundation.

“I'm proud of how, together with all my employees, we've grown from a small to a medium-sized, innovative company. Being honored with the “Great Award for Medium-Sized Companies” this year makes me particularly happy. Securing ITK Engineering's sustainable success while remaining true to our philosophy and values is my personal goal – and this award shows that we're on the right path,” said Michael Englert, CEO and founder of ITK Engineering, upon receiving the award.

“Running a medium-sized business means maintaining active entrepreneurial responsibility under constant competitive pressure, and in a politically uncertain setting. It means active responsibility for earning in the market and for the entire value chain, instead of relying on subsidies and cost-reduction programs that burden others. It means active responsibility for the products and services that are provided, for the profits that are achieved, for the investments that are made, for the company's intertwined relationship with the region. Small and medium-sized business creates existential security. A life's work is created there and the life's work of others is respected. Small and medium-sized business is a notion that should make everyone proud,” said Dr. Helfried Schmidt, Chairman of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation.
